Agri employees pin high hopes on Guv, Commissioner for releasing DPC list

SRINAGAR, Mar 20: The officers of the Agriculture Department today expressed hope that the steps taken by the Commissioner Agriculture Production Department in speeding up the process of releasing of promotion list through DPC will be taken to its logical conclusion.
In a statement issued here today they further said that for the smooth working of the department and to save the officers from complete demoralization, it was imperative to end decades’ long policy of adhocism rampant in the department.
Abdul Rashid Yatoo a senior officer of the department informed that it was travesty of the spirit of the Constitution of the country which guarantees equal opportunities for all to deny promotion benefit to an officer even after putting in a service of more than 30 years. While informing he said that scores of officers in the department have retired as Agriculture Extension Officers on the post which they joined the department.
Adding further, he said that some officers who were not eligible to the higher cadre were promoted, while as the large mass of suffering officers numbering in hundreds were left out. While lauding the efforts of the incumbent Agriculture Production Commissioner to reverse this injustice by constituting the DPC, they hoped that the promotion list through duly constituted DPC will be released, despite the negative attitude of some officers, who are bent upon stalling the sincere efforts of the Commissioner for mitigating the woes of the depressed officers. While expressing hope that the widespread policy of adhocism in which even on the post of joint directors, officers of the entry level gazetted officer of the post of Agriculture Extension Officer is made to officiate. And sadly they retire without confirmation as joint director. The aggrieved officers hoped that this injustice will not be allowed to prevail in future. This policy, according to them has left all officers of the department completely shattered for they see no scope of any promotion in the department during their entire service tenure.
Abdul Rashid Hurra and Mohammad Mubarak Reshi pinned hopes on the pragmatic approach of the Governor who has evinced keen interest in removing adhocism from the Irrigation and R&B, Health and Horticulture Departments in which officers had had remained stagnant at one post for years together.
