Agri employees for postponing of Kissan Pakhwada

JAMMU, July 12: With one employee of the department turning COVID-19 positive, panic has gripped among the employees especially in the field staff of the Agriculture Department who have demanded postponing of Kissan Pakhwada regarding coverage of 100 percent KCC for time being.
The employees of the department on the condition of anonymity said that in view of the increasing cases of COVID in Jammu and one employee turning positive while two more are suspects, the department should postpone the Kissan Pakhwada for the time being in the larger interests of employees, farmers, bank employees as well as general public.
They said by holding the Kissan Pakhwada the department was putting the life of both officials as well as the farmers to risk. Maintaining that they are not opposed to holding of the Pakhwada but in the event of increasing cases there is a panic among the employees and the same can be delayed for some time till the pandemic subsides.
However, when contacted the Director Agriculture, Inderjit Kumar said that one employee has turned positive while the tests of others will come tomorrow. However he made it clear that the Kissan Pakhwada is being organized by district administration and total SOPs like social distancing and use of masks, sanitizers etc is maintained.
He said if need be the other measures for the safety of both employees and farmers will also be taken.
