JAMMU, June 21: Renowned Hindi poet, author and convener, Panun Kashmir, Dr Agnishekhar was today conferred with Mira Simiriti Samman, 2016 -the prestigious literary award by Mira Foundation Allahabad (UP) for his outstanding contribution in the field of literature particularly Hindi poetry and for his recognition as one of the national poets and writers at a simple but impressive function organized at K L Sehgal Hall here this evening.
A galaxy of Hindi, Kashmiri, English, Dogri and Urdu writers and poets besides artists and intellectuals attended the function. The famous writers and poets included Kashi Nath Singh, Shekhar Joshi, Gyanranjan, Chitra Mudgal, Mamta Kaliya, Dodh Nath Singh etc are among the recipients of this prestigious award earlier.
The award was to be presented to Dr Agnishekhar at Allahabad last year along with Mirdula Garg and Sudha Arora but due to his pre occupation, he could not visit there and hence the organizers decided to visit Jammu from Allahabad to confer the award to Dr Agnishekhar.
The Award was conferred to Dr Agnishekhar by Vibhor Aggarwal and Dr Varsha Aggarwal Trustees of the Board of Mira Foundation. The prominent persons who were on the dais along with him included famous Urdu poet Vidya Rattan Aasi, renowned Hindi poet, Dr R L Shant and Dr Darshan Darshi.
On the occasion famous poem of Dr Agnishekhar -Jawahar Tunnel was enacted by well known stage Director, Dr Sudhir Mahajan. The poem is about the saga of Kashmiri Pandits exodus in 1989-90.
Kuldeep Saproo a well known producer and director presented audio Lal Vaakh in honour of Dr Agnishekhar. The stage was conducted by Kusum Tickoo.
The award contains a shawl, a memento and a citation.
