JAMMU, Dec 30: On the Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow noted Hindi poet, writer and thinker from J&K Dr Agnishekhar was conferred prestigious National Sauhaard Samman by the UP Assembly Speaker, Dr Hriday Narayan Dikshit.
In a jam packed Yashpal Auditorium, Dr Agnishekhar was felicitated for his immense contribution to contemporary Hindi literature with Shawl, memento and Cheque of Rs two lakh by Dr Dikshit who was the chief guest on the occasion.
The citation of the Sauhaard Samman records Dr Agnishek-har’s contribution in producing the literature of exile consciousness of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits being victims of religious genocide since 90s. This has added a new dimension to the Indian literature. Author of eight award winning and widely discussed books besides some other fictions and research works Dr Agnishekhar has several prestigious awards and honors to his credit. On this occasion 136 other writers, journalists and Hindi organizations were also awarded.
