Agitation of farmers opposing shifting of capital city should become a massive people’s movement : Naidu

VIJAYAWADA, Jan 6: Telugu Desam Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to the people of the state to participate in the agitation opposing the shifting of capital city from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.
He said the agitation of farmers on the issue should become a massive people’s movement.
Vijayawada (East) MLA Gadde Ramamohan Rao embarked on a 24-hour fast in the premises of function hall near Benz Circle here on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the former Chief Minister said that the farmers in the capital region area have been agitating for the last 20 days in protest against the proposal of shifting of capital city to Visakhapatnam.
“The agitation of farmers should become a massive people’s movement”, he said. All political parties, including the BJP, Congress, CPI-M and CPI, expressed their solidarity to the agitating farmers.
“It is the responsibility of people of the State to protect capital city Amaravati. All should participate in the agitation protesting against the shifting of AP capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatam. This is not the problem of farmers but the problem of all people in the State” he said.

Mr Naidu expressed his readiness to work under the “Joint Action Committee” which was formed to lead the agitation opposing the shifting of capital city.
“We should vow to ensure that Amaravati should remain capital city of AP. All should fight bravely against the attempts of shifting capital city from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam” he asserted.
The TDP National President dared the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy headed YSRCP government to probe the alleged insider trading with a sitting High Court Judge over the purchase of lands in the Capital region Amaravati.
The YSRCP government has focussed on him and ignored the other issues, he alleged, and said that the State was ruined in all fronts by the YSRCP government.
CPI National Secretary K Narayana was also present.
Meanwhile, the agitations by the farmers of the 29 villages in the Capital Region entered 20th day today.
A huge rally was taken out from Tulluru village to Mandadam village in which large number of farmers and women participated.
