JAMMU, Mar 23: Frustrated over no response of the Government despite their ongoing hunger strike for the last 37 days, the agitating Contractual Lecturers (10+2) today washed vehicles, which were parked near the dharna site at Exhibition Ground.
The token protest was to register their anguish against the Government, which has neither responded to their demand for regularization, nor invited them for talks to end the hunger strike.
“Through this protest of washing the vehicles, the highly educated Contractual Lecturers seek to convey that we have no option other than to do such works for feeding out families as the Government is not concerned about us,” said a female Contractual Lecturers, who alongwith others, is sitting on fast dharna.
The protesting Contractual Lecturers also raised slogans against the Government and in support of their demand for regularization.
Yesterday, the Minister for Forest, Choudhary Lal Singh had visited the protesting Contractual Lecturers and assured to take up their demand but there was no further response.
These Contractual Lecturers are agitating for their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidate employees after rendering seven years of services.
