Abolish M-Forms for migrant voters: Bakaya

JAMMU Mar 23: National Conference leader and former MLC Vijay Bakaya today expressed dismay over the inaction by Election Commission with regard to repeated pleas of dispensing with M-Forms for migrant voters in Jammu and elsewhere in the country for exercising their democratic right.
Interacting with migrant electors of the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, which is going for by-polls next month, Bakaya, who is also Political Advisor to National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah that the party has several times raised with the Election Commission the issue of doing away with this cumbersome process but nothing has materialized so far. He said filling up M-Forms was acting as a major damper for the large migrant electorate of the Srinagar and Anantnag Parliamentary Constituencies.
Bakaya urged the Election Commission to abolish the requirement of M-Forms for migrant electors so that they exercise their franchise like other voters in the Valley.
The former MLC exhorted the voters to come in a big way and cast their votes in favour of the alliance candidates Dr Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
“Vote to Dr Farooq Abdullah would be support to the policies and programmes of National Conference that stands for amity, brotherhood and equal opportunities to all, irrespective of caste, creed or colour”, Bakaya added.
