REASI, May 26: The three-day historic Aghar Jitto Mela in remembrance of Baba Jitto Mal would commence at Aghar Jitto from June 12.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal   during a meeting of officers and local committee members.
This ancient religious place is situated in the lap of Trikuta Hills on Katra -Reasi road where lakh of devotees of Baba Jitto from various parts of the country visit to pay their obeisance.
The devotees of Baba Jitto will perform the “Rote Ceremony” on the bank of river Chenab near Dera Baba area by giving Rote to the river Chenab.
Dr Iqbal directed the officers of various departments to make all the necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the mela which include security, drinking water and un-interrupted power supply, adequate provision of essential commodities, sanitation, fire services and transport arrangements.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer was asked to ensure availability of team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines round the clock during the mela days. Similarly, Rural Development Department was asked to erect separate temporary toilets & bathrooms for males & females at the site of mela for convenience of pilgrims. Besides, adequate deployment of security personal enroute and around mela site would be made by district police.
The DC directed Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Employment and other allied departments to organize awareness camps and install stalls at the venue. He asked the Assistant Director, CAPD to provide adequate ration, kerosene oil and LPG cylinder during the mela.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Rajinder Singh Tara, ASP Reasi Sanjay Rana, ACR Tilak Raj, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, XEn PHE, XEn PDD,  XEn PWD, DSWO Rafiq Ahmad, ARTO Rajesh Gupta, DIO Parvinder Kour, AD Handicraft Manu Hansa, Tehsildar Daljeet Singh, CEO Ashok Sanyal, various district officers, chairman of Baba Jitto Committee and Sarpanch Aghar Jitto.
