REASI, May 15: Alleging that the ongoing works by the Railway construction companies has dried all natural resources of water in the area, the inhabitants of Serla Bhaga village of district Reasi today held a strong protest demonstration.
The protesting villagers staged a dharna outside the main gate of Patel Railway Company’s office at Bhaga. The protestors raised slogans against the Railway company which worked there and alleged that they had destroyed all natural water springs in the area. Protestors also raised slogans against PHE Department.
The locals lamented that because of acute scarcity of water, they have to go for one to two kilometers for fetching water. The protest dharna continued for about 9 hours.
Later on officials from administration and PHE reached the spot and pacified the protestors. The protestors also called on DDC Reasi who assured them of redressal of their problem.
