JAMMU, Feb 16: Deman-ding deferment of mains exams, the aggrieved KAS aspirants held protest outside the main gate of the Jammu University, here today.
Large number of aggrieved KAS aspirants assembled outside the main gate of the varsity and raised slogans in favour of the demand. They blocked the road by burning the tyres.
The protestors demanded deferment of KAS mains examination on various grounds. The aspirants have flayed PSC for maladministration and putting the career of thousands of aspirants at stake.
After the declaration of preliminary result, 6925 candidates were declared eligible for the mains examination and all these candidates filled up the forms and even deposited fee for the same but later PSC going against its rules, reevaluated the preliminary results and ousted 429 candidates from appearing in mains examination, they said, adding that later, these ousted candidates knocked the door of High Court, which in its judgment declared all the 429 ousted candidates as eligible for appearing in CCE mains 2016. But the PSC kept all the 429 candidates in dilemma for the whole month of January and just a week before the commencement of mains examination from February 15, PSC took the aspirants for granted and issued an offline link for filling up the forms for mains examination on February 8 and provided only two days to complete all the formalities regarding the same ignoring the topographical difficulties of the State. The 429 candidates were not provided adequate time for the preparation, they stated.
“Even after the assurance by CM, we felt shocked and cheated as JKPSC postponed only two initial exams because of highway closure, whereas we demand deferment of mains exam as the matter is sub-judice. Our protests will continue till our demand is redressed”, they said and urged the Government to intervene immediately otherwise youth will revolt against JKPSC on large scale.
