REASI, June 19: Workers of Afcon company in Reasi today began chain hunger strike against alleged violation of Labour laws by the construction company.
They raised slogans and demanded action in this regard by the Railway Minister. The protesting workers alleged that Afcon had been violating Labour laws and the district authorities were mum on the issue.
“Labour laws are being violated with impunity across all construction sites of Afcon company. Many workers have been retrenched for complaining about delay in payment of salaries and lack of wage revision,” they said and alleged that no washroom was constructed for workers at the construction site in open violation of Prime Minister’s mission of ODF.
Labour leader Munshi Ram announced that daily two labourers would sit on chain hunger strike till their demands are conceded.
