PATHANKOTE, Sept 28: A young engineer and his lecturer wife belonging to Shiv Nagar, Kathua were killed in a road accident at Defense road near Sujanpur in Punjab this evening.
They were identified as Ajit Kumar, son of Parkash Ram, AEE, PMGSY, Sub Division Billawar and his wife Kailash Dogra + 2 lecturer Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kathua.
According to reports the couple was on their way to Pathankot for the medical examination of Kailash Dogra. While reaching on Defense road near Sujanpur in Punjab their Maruti Swift bearing number JK08 5757 collided with a high speed truck coming from opposite direction resulting into the instant death of the couple.
Soon after the accident a police team from Sujanpur Police Station led by SHO Rajinder Manhas rushed to the accident site and shifted the dead bodies to Pathankote Hospital. The Sujanpur police flashed a message to Kathua to inform the family about the accident.
The police has seized the truck while its driver managed to flee after the accident. The Sujanpur police has registered a case.
The bodies will be handed over to their family members for cremation after postmortem tomorrow.
