UDHAMPUR, Oct 19: Advisor to Governor K. Skandan today reviewed the developmental scenario in Udhampur at a meeting with the district administration.
District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, SSP Traffic, J.S Johar, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vikar Giri, all SDMs besides other District and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
At the outset, the DDC Dr. Piyush Singla gave sector wise PowerPoint presentation of the ongoing developmental works being executed by PHE, PWD, PDD, Health, PMGSY, Forest, Education, Agriculture and Horticulture.
The Advisor reviewed the status of holy Devika project under National River Conservation Plan, status of four laning of National Highway from Udhampur to Chenani, construction of EOC building, status of Trauma Centre, Patnitop Ropeway Project, status of Solid Waste Management Project, Waste Disposal Machine through heat, status of new Medical College etc.
While reviewing the progress on the projects, the Advisor exhorted upon the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work and ensure completion within stipulated time frame.
The Advisor asked the Health Department to work with dedication towards ensuring better health care facilities to the people at their door step. Regarding solid waste management, the Advisor was informed that Udhampur town has been declared plastic free.
The DDC informed that kill the waste plant is to be installed in Udhampur shortly.
Reviewing working of Revenue Department, the Advisor sought details about the digitization of revenue record, status of Jamabandies and Mutations, besides rationalization of Patwar halkas, Girdawar circle. He asked the concerned to ensure quality and error free Jamabindies.
The Advisor further asked the Revenue officers to remove encroachment from State land and make it available for projects as per requirement.
Taking stock of transport sector, the Advisor directed the concerned department to introduce two electric buses for the district and initiate the replacement the old buses with new ones.
He also reviewed the water requirement and availability, power infrastructure projects, widening of roads, flood management, working of industrial estates, Saubhagya, water conservation Plan, organic farming, PMGSY, PWD roads, status of CRF roads, status of languishing project and timelines for completion, status of health services, additional requirement of funds for completion of pending developmental works, production of Agriculture/Horticulture major crops, were discussed in detail.
The Advisor stressed on promotion of industrial sector for economic development and growth of the district. He stressed on promotion of the local craft and products by introducing modern technology.
It was informed that a food park has been proposed for Chenani, to be build over an area of 25 Kanal land, while 100 kanal land has been identified for new industrial units.
The Advisor stressed on promotion of integrated farming for achieving the goal of doubling the farmers’ income. He emphasized on laying special focus on Agriculture, Horticulture so that it could generate more employment in the district.
