Advisor, others pay tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh

JAMMU, Sept 21: MHAC School Nagbani celebrated the birthday of former ruler of the State and founder of the School, Maharaja Hari Singh with great pomp and show today.
Farooq Khan, Advisor to Governor was chief guest on the occasion. Floral tributes were paid to the Maharaja by the Chief Guest, Manager T K Ganjoo, Principal Mrs. Sween Puri, LMC Members and the other dignitaries.
A Hawan, was performed. It was followed by bhajan and a group song performed by the staff of the school. Keeping alive the philanthropic spirit of the founder father, the school invited some under privilege schools to participate in the celebrations. This year around 150 students along with their teachers from Vir Ram Chander Memorial Trust, Orphan School, Ban Bathera, Samaj Kalyan Kendra School for the hearing impaired and Border Less World Foundation NGO were invited.
The school donated an LED, a computer, Gas Stove, Tiffins and stationery items to these schools.
While addressing the gathering, the Principal of the school said that Maharaja Hari Singh was a great visionary, a true patriot, progressive thinker and a social reformer. She also said that his endeavour to promote literacy in the State were inclusive of women’s education. He also made laws prohibiting child marriage and threw open places of workship for all. He rose above the comment stereotype and stood by his words, ‘`As a ruler, I have no religion,. All religions are mine & my religion is justice.’’
The chief guest lauded the contribution of Maharaja & said that late Maharaja will be remembered for long for his good works done for the social transformation in the State. He talked about his association with royal family for 200 years. He called Dogra rulers the champions of education and that MHAC Nagbani is a befitting tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh Ji. He gave his compliment to talented musicians and singers of the school. He was hopeful that in capable hands of the school Principal, the dreams of Maharaja will come true.
Reiterating the resolve to carry forward messages and teachings of Maharaja Hari Singh, the programme ended with Shanti Path to invoke the blessings of almighty God to make the school reach echelons of success in the coming years.
