JAMMU, Jan 15: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today said that Jammu and Kashmir is an abode of pluralistic ethos where people from varied cultural backgrounds have co-existed peacefully since centuries.
The Advisor was interacting with a group of girl students at ‘Drishti’ girls’ hostel facility at Pounichak Jammu being run by the ‘Seva Bharati’ here.
Advisor Khan said that J&K is a mini-model of India having seen emergence of great religions, cultures, heritages and civilizations. He impressed upon the youth to work jointly to preserve and promote the peaceful co-existence of all religions, pluralistic ethos and varied cultures in J&K.
Speaking to the girl students, the Advisor urged them to work hard to realize their dreams and get name and fame for themselves and for the country.
On the occasion, the students presented a colourful cultural programme featuring Kashmiri, Ladkahi, Dogri and Punjabi songs. They also presented a skit on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and harmful effects of use of polythene on humans and environment.
Earlier, Advisor Khan inspected the hostel building and facilities available to 22 girl inmates hailing from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Meanwhile, the Advisor also laid the foundation stone of Guru Dhronacharya Playground at Pounichak Khanpur, Jammu.
