JAMMU, Jan 11: Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor J&K along with Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU) Prof Manoj Dhar and IGP Crime MK Sinha released young author Shireen Kalra’s book titled ‘All Smiles Little Fears Some Tears’ at a function here today.
The book has been published and released under the banner of Vistata Publications, New Delhi. Dr Garima Gupta, teaching faculty at Department of English, JU gave an overview about the book.
In his address, the Advisor lauded Shireen Kalra, a class 12th student studying in Presentation Convent School Jammu for her Fictional Novel and hoped that the book shall inspire other young writers to publish their writings. He also complimented the writer for her brilliant skills as writer and her ability to relate to and pen down her observations and thoughts on paper.
Khan also paid glowing tributes to the author’s grandfather late TR Kalra, J&K’s first IPS officer, to whom the book is dedicated.
Prof Manoj Dhar in his address advised the writer to continue with her writing skills and regularly publish her works. He encouraged the writer to always aim high in life and keep working hard.
The IGP Crime while praising the author for her maiden work hoped that the writer shall soon make a mark amongst the well read women writers in the country. He also advised Shireen Kalra to never ever be get deterred by criticism and continue to strive towards excellence.
The book has been endorsed by famous author and MP Shashi Tharoor. “Shireen Kalra’s passion for story writing is well captured in the book which captures the innocence of young love. An encouraging debut, one that I am sure will be the first of many by this young writer,” wrote Tharoor.
