Advanced Interventional Cath Lab Services launched at AIIMS

JAMMU, Dec 15: AIIMS Jammu has taken a major stride towards advancing healthcare delivery in the Union Territory with the successful initiation of Interventional Cath Lab services.
The launch marks a significant milestone in institute’s commitment to provide state-of-the-art, minimally invasive, image-guided therapies for the people of J&K.
The newly established Cath Lab is equipped with latest Biplane Digital Subtraction Angiography suite, capable of performing a wide spectrum of complex body, neurovascular and cardiovascular procedures.
The multidisciplinary team handling the Cath Lab comprises highly trained interventional radiologists, interventional cardiologists and anaesthetists, supported by skilled technologists and nursing staff.
Key team members include Dr Ankit Prabhakar, Assistant Professor, Radio-Diagnosis; Dr Mayank Saini, Assistant Professor, Cardiology; Dr Shariq Shah, Assistant Professor, Neuro Radio-Diagnosis and Dr Zubair Farooq, Assistant Professor, Cardiology.
With the commencement of Cath Lab services, the Institute will now be able to offer advanced treatment options for brain strokes, aneurysmal bleeds, vascular malformations and other vascular body interventions such as angioembolizations, in addition to comprehensive cardiac interventions for conditions including angina, arrhythmias and heart blocks.
