JAMMU, July 6: Terming adoption of resolution by State Assembly on implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the State , Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  chief spokesperson and senior advocate, Sunil Sethi termed it an ideological victory for his Party.
Talking to reporters here, this afternoon Sethi said that BJP worked from beginning for one nation one tax and implementation of GST in entire country including J&K to send a strong message to the disruptive forces and separatists that J&K is an integral part of India like its other States.
He said by passing the resolution and implementation of Constitutional 101 Amendment in the State through which GST regime came into being a way has been opened for implementation of Constitutional amendments in future also in the State of J&K.
“It is the victory of our ideological stand against separatist forces and our principles also as we stand for one tax one nation ”, Sethi said, adding those who opposed its implementation in the State have also been exposed among the masses.
He said every class of people including traders, industrialists, transporters and workers  are happy with adoption of resolution and implementation of GST in the State.
He said though there were other options before the Government in getting the GST implemented in the State but through the concurrence of State Legislature the Government wanted to frame a common public opinion on it. The Government could have implemented the GST though Presidential order or Cabinet approval but we wanted to put it in public domain.
Making a dig at those who made un- parliamentary language during the debate on GST he termed it totally unfortunate. He demanded that such people be dealt under the law of the land.
In response to a question that Congress has criticized the way the Government adopted the resolution saying that it will create problems for implementation of Constitutional amendments in future, Sethi said that on this issue Government thought that framing of common opinion was must and the same is not necessary at other time in future and at that time we can adopt the amendment through Cabinet approval or presidential notification. Both Congress and National Conference failed  on GST, he added.
