KISHTWAR, Jan 15: Urging people not to get hoodwinked by the rhetoric of opposition parties, Member Legislative Council (MLC) Firdous Tak today said that the administrative and fiscal reforms initiated by the present dispensation led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will usher a new era of prosperity, growth and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Govern-ment in last two years worked specifically on infusing new lease of life in the system, which was paralyzed by the previous dispensations. Today the reforms have started paying dividends enabling the Government to launch people friendly and historic welfare measures”, he said.
Tak was addressing party workers in series of meetings held in Trigam block of Kishtwar district as a part of contact programme in the run up of ensuing Panchayat elections. He visited around a dozen villages and held detailed discussion with the party workers in order to gear up the cadre ahead of Panchayat elections.
The legislator said that it was for the first time that any Government has taken such large number of welfare measures in a short span without compromising the fiscal health of the State. “It was for the first time that Government implemented any Pay Commission recommendations and addressed most of issues of working class without any strike and agitation”, he said adding that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu deserves all applause for all such measures.
He said that the popularity of PDP has frustrated opposition, adding that the people at gross root level have understood that PDP is the only party which do not believe in rhetoric but deliver on the ground. “Today people are feeling as if the golden era of 2002 has returned”, he added.
