SAMBA, Oct 1: Under the Food Safety and Standard Act, R.K Shavan, ADM, Samba, has imposed a penality of Rs.9 lakh in two cases pertaining to misbranded and mislabeled food articles, tested by the NABL lab.
As per the prosecution the samples of food boiled confectionery were lifted from one Tarsem Lal S/o Om Parkash R/o Ghagwal, which was manufactured by Ravi Fruit Pvt. Ltd. Madhuban Colony, Katedan Hyderabad, the samples were found misleading and misbranded.
Similarly, the “fruit fill guava drink” manufactured by M/s Fill Industries Ltd. SIDCO Electronic Complex Rangreth Srinagar has also been found misbranded, misleading with extraneous matter by the Test lab.
The prosecution was represented by Raj Kumar Gupta, Food Safety Officer and representative from Ravi Food Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad and Fill Industries Ltd. SIDCO appeared before the adjucating officer, R.K Shavan ADM. After hearing both the parties the adjucating officer decided the matter imposing heavy penality of Rs.4 lakh in the case of Ravi Food Pvt. Ltd. and Rs.5 lakhs in case of Fruit Fill Industries Ltd. with the direction to deposit the amount within 5 days.
The adjusting officer has further directed the manufactures to recall their products of this lot immediately from the market and make the consumers aware about the same.
