JAMMU, Jan 3: The Jammu district administration today established four night shelters in order to ensure that nobody including the tourists and pilgrims spends night in open during the prevailing cold wave.
According to the official spokesman, the district administration has declared Saraswati and Vaishnavi Dhams at Railway Station, Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar, JDA Complex Bus Stand and Jambulochan Banquet Hall at Ambphalla as night shelters for the use by those who don’t find any place to spend night during the prevailing cold wave.
At all these night shelters, the Red Cross Society would make available sufficient number of blankets for the use by the shelter-less people. “This is being done in order to ensure that there was no loss to any life due to the cold wave”, the spokesman said, adding certain teams comprising Red Cross volunteers and Revenue and Police officials have also been constituted for patrolling in different parts of Jammu so that nobody spends night on foot-paths or on the road sides.
It is pertinent to mention here that even the Supreme Court has issued explicit directions in this regard.
