JAMMU, Apr 23: A meeting of All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) was held under the Chairmanship of D N Kissu today. Deliberating on the Government’s announcements made about rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley, the chairman reiterated the demand of rehabilitating the Kashmiri Pandits at a single place in the Valley should be given a serious thought and the rehabilitation process should be started without further delay.
The Forum made it clear that opening of temples for the first time after migration and performing Pooja and Havan are different issues and it does not mean that some Pandits have returned to the Valley as has been claimed by some politicians however return of peace and normalcy is welcome.
It said over a decade when PM’s Employment Package was announced the scheme is still incomplete with the result the number of unemployed youth have crossed the age limits and new job aspirants are increasing day by day. Forum appealed for increasing more jobs in future.
It said the Temples and Shrines Bill one of the prime demands of displaced community is lying in cold store and Forum appealed the Lt Governor bringing an ordinance for formation of Board to protect the religious places of Hindus in Valley.
Revised APL ration cards were issued to the displaced families it is surprising that the ration is denied even on cash payment against these ration cards. Forum has expressed concern about the discriminated approach of Government and appealed to restore ration at par with consumers in Kashmir.
Forum also appealed that the cash assistance given to some displaced families having no other source of income is too meager to meet their minimum requirements during rising prices as such it should be raised to at least to Rs. 25000 per month per family.
Besides the chairman of the Forum its chief advisor, Prof GL Koul, President P L Sudeshi president Women Wing, Phoola Koul, general secretary, PN Raina, CL Zutshi, ML Koul and PL Razdan also spoke in the meeting.
