ADKUF accuses Govt of ignoring displaced Pandits

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 20: An Executive Body meeting of All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) was held under the chairman DN Kissu here today.
In his address Kissu lambasted the Department of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA) for not providing ration to the displaced APL ration card holders regularly. The Government should immediately issue new APL ration cards to all displaced families who have submitted family details in prescribed forms afresh and in the meanwhile ration against existing old ration cards should continue to be issued till receipt of new ration cards, it added.
Chief advisor Prof. GL Koul pointed out that the Government should allot quarters to displaced families living in rented accommodations without delay so that sufferings of these families are reduced. Koul also said that KPs are a minority community and maintaining stoic silence in setting up a Minority Commission in the State like other states and in the Center, is unfortunate and demanded that the said commission be set up at the earliest.
P L Sudeshi president of Forum said that the Forum welcomed Government move of rehabilitating displaced community in the Valley and added that the move should be implemented speedily. N N Dhar another spokesman said that the Forum unanimously rejected the concept of clusters and transit accommodation voiced by some quarters. He urged that the Government must show some seriousness of rehabilitating displaced Pandits in Valley and should take immediate steps to rehabilitate all displaced Pandits at a single place only.
P N Raina general secretary appealed State and Central Governments to accept genuine demand of KPs declaring them an internally displaced community in accordance with the prevalent national and international laws. He demanded that a commission of inquiry be set up to find the reasons that led to the mass exodus of Pandits and punish the culprits behind the conspiracy.
C L Koul regretted that the Temples and Shrines Bill has been put at the back burner he requested all political parties to come forward for meeting aspirations of the community and rise above lip service deliberations at least on this issue. He also added that the Forum supports the demand of ousting Rohingya settlers from the State.
He also said that the displaced community feels neglected since it has negligible or no political representation at the Center and the State.
Among others  BN Bhat, PL Razdan and  CL Zutshi also addressed the meeting.
