Adequate arrangements made for smooth conduct of LAHDC polls: Election Authority

KARGIL, Aug 17: Adequate arrangements of forces have been made for the smooth conduct of 3rd Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) election.
This was stated by Fida Hussain, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kargil, and Election Authority for LAHDC election during a press conference.
Keeping in view the 67 Hyper Sensitive Polling Stations, 85 Sensitive Polling Stations and 105 Normal Polling Stations, forces will reach Kargil from Kashmir for the security arrangements, he informed.
Hussain told that 13 Zonal Magistrates and 26 sectors with 26 Sectoral Magistrates will be responsible for maintaining law and order in their respective zones, voter turnout reporting, safe arrival and departure of voting officials and smooth functioning of elections.
Two constituencies out of the 26 constituencies elected their nominees uncontested namely Advocate Mohd Amir from Stakchey Khangral and Aga Mohammad Hassan (Arman) from Saliskote constituency, he added.
Hussain told that the voter list of January 1, 2013 will be used for the elections and EPIC is compulsory for those who has got the card and for the rest any other identity card, ration card or identification by the head of the family is compulsory.
Full fledged and fully updated media center has been established for information to the media regarding updates, he informed.
SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar briefed about the security arrangements. He told that they have divided the whole election process into three phases including adequate care of any breach of the model code of conduct, dispatch and safe arrival of ballot box to the strong room and arrangement of QRTs and Reserve forces in 11 blocks so that response can be made immediately if any untoward incidents occurs in any poling station.
Police has built a web of wireless communication in the whole district for updates after every hour during the whole three phases of elections, SSP informed.
