JAMMU, June 21: Senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla on Sunday appealed to the J&K Lieutenant Governor (LG), Girish Chandra Murmu to address power crisis in Jammu region and claimed that grid stations are not in a position to supply power as per the increased demand and the infrastructure is unable to sustain the increased load due to the rising temperature.
Bhalla was speaking during his visit to the areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency including Nai Basti, Bhour Camp, Gadigarh and Rohimorh after locals of these areas raised the issue of power crisis.
“Contrary to the claim of the government that regular power will be supplied, the Power Development Department (PDD) is resorting to frequent power cuts,” he claimed adding that grid constraints have worsened power crisis.
The Congress leader said, there is one hour power curtailment after every two hours in the metered areas while in non-metered areas there is 7-8 hour power curtailment due to which the PHE department is unable to make proper water supply.
Bhalla further said that for the last one week Jammu city and its adjoining towns like Akhnoor, Khour, Jourian, R.S Pura, Bishnah, Vijaypur, Nagrota, Bari Brahamana besides Samba and Kathua districts are also facing worst kind of power crisis.
