AD Handicrafts facing corruption charges acquitted

JAMMU, Jan 8: Special Judge CBI Jammu M L Manhas has acquitted Kewal Krishan Sharma, the then Assistant Director Handicrafts in a corruption case as prosecution miserably failed to prove its case.
After hearing Senior PP Manmohan Sharma for the CBI whereas Advocate SC Bali for the alleged accused, Special Judge CBI observed, “prosecution has miserably failed to prove the guilt of accused beyond reasonable doubt for commission of offences under Section 5(1)(d) read with Section 5(2) PC Act 2006”.
“Challan against the accused, therefore, miserably fails and the same is disallowed, rejected and dismissed”, the court said.
Accordingly, Kewal Krishan Sharma was acquitted of the charges leveled against him.
