JANDRAH NAGROTA, Oct 23: Asking BJP to explain the reasons for not posting Tehsildar in Jandrah, a tehsil created by Omar Abdullah led Government in 2014, MLA Nagrota and Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today sought its immediate activation for taking administration at the doorsteps of people.
“The PDP-BJP Government showed extra-ordinary urgency in posting Assistant Commissioner Development in Bhaderwah, despite non-existence or creation of this post but is reluctant to have the tehsil office at Jandrah and other administrative units sanctioned for the Nagrota constituency functional”, Rana said while addressing public meetings at Nagola, Dhan and Jandrah Panchayats of Dansal Block.
He assailed the Coalition Government for not sanctioning and posting staff to the new administrative units in the constituency, which were created by the National Conference led Government along with similar units in various parts of the State on October 21, 2014 as per Cabinet Decision No 187/14/2014.
“This speaks of the scant regard of the BJP for the aspirations of the people in  the Jammu region and exposes its hypocrisy of being Messiah and custodian of the Jammuities”, Rana said, adding that this discrimination is going to boomerang for the insensitive ruling alliance. He said the Government has even backed out from the assurances given in the Legislative Assembly to his repeated pleas. He said he raised the issue several times, twice in 2015 and once last year but except assuring that the matter was being examined by the Finance Department, no forward movement has taken place so far.
He smelled political mischief in the delay to make Jandrah tehsil functional and said this amounts to betrayal with the people of Nagrota. He recalled his suggestions of posting staff by way of internal arrangement, if the Government had any constraints, but this too was ignored. He said lack of staff is forcing the people to long distances for getting their issues settled.
Responding to various issues raised by the people, the MLA said these will be taken up with concerned for appropriate redressal on immediate basis. He said he has been consistently pursuing and coordinating various developmental issues of the constituency to have these completed in a time bound manner so that the benefits reach the targeted population on time. He said development of Nagrota constituency is his mission which he will accomplish with the active support of the people.
The MLA also took stock of the Degree College Jandrah Complex, being constructed at a cost of Rs 11 crore. He was given a brief about the progress on the project on which Rs 5.50 crore have been spent so far.
