JAMMU, Sept 20: Action Committee held a meeting at Dudu, which was attended by its General Secretary, its members, BDC Chairpersons, local Sarpanchs and respectable people.
In the meeting, threadbare discussions was carried out regarding future roadmap of ongoing agitation regarding the imbroglio at Dhar Seoj.
The speakers were almost unanimous about slipshod functioning of police and mishandling of the matter by local administration.
The speakers were of the view that Special Investigating Team (SIT) constituted by IGP Jammu needs to be immediately withdrawn as three months have elapsed since the mysterious death of Shiv Raj and even the dead body of the deceased has not been recovered as yet. More so the fleecing of poor shepherds and farmers has also re-started in Seoj Dhar, with the connivance of local police and administration. This has virtually shaken the confidence of local people in the rule of law, they added.
The speakers reiterated their demand for strict action against erring officers of police administration.
The speakers further reiterated their demand for Rs 20 lakh as compensation and Government job for NoKs of late Shiv Raj, permanently debarring the said rebellious tribes from entering Seoj Dhar henceforth and distributing the pastures between the local shepherds so as to avoid friction.
They also called for formulation of a Commission of inquiry to ensure that all complaints of extortion, exploitation, sexual exploitation etc to be registered against the tribe and bring all of them to a logical conclusion at the earliest.
The speakers also decided to launch a public stir against the action/indolence of local police in failing to crack the case since within three months.
They further said that any law and order issues erupting in future shall be at the pure risk and responsibility of concerned police and civil officers.
The proceedings were conducted by Hans Raj Thakur and Shiv Charan, Krishan Lal, Darshan Kumar, Romesh Singh, Naresh Lalhal, Beyant Gupta, Kasturi Lal Gupta and other prominent citizens remained present and shared their views.
