JAMMU, Oct 8: The delegation of the members of Associated Chamber of Traders Federation (ACTF) met the Commissioner Commercial Taxes here today and apprised him of the problems being faced by the trading community.
The delegation led by ACTF president Yash Paul Gupta during meeting pointed out that the business as well as economy of the State was suffering due to the different rates of taxes in the State as compared to the rates in the neighbouring states. They said the sales in the State has been affected and the revenue will also have its impact. The seizure of goods at Lakhanpur under the pretext of under value of goods was another reason for the poor business in the State, they added.
Mr Gupta also raised the issue of format of new VAT form which is very complicated. He said it could not help in maintaining the records by ordinary small businessmen who were not thoroughly educated. He said the ACTF has already suggested to have advisory committee over this issue.
The Commissioner heard the points patiently and assured the delegation that suitable action will be taken to address their issues. He also assured that no law abiding and honest trader will be harassed.
Prominent among those who accompanied Mr Gupta included Dinesh Gupta, Neeraj Anand, Attar Singh, Kewel Krishan and Ajay Gupta.
