JAMMU, Mar 15: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu has acquitted Rishi Kumar alias Rajeev, son of Sat Pal Sharma of Subash Nagar, who is facing trial in fake currency case.
After hearing Advocate Kousal Parihar appearing for the accused person, the court observed, “there are glaring contradictions between the statements of prosecution witnesses about recovery of fake currency notes from the possession of the accused”, adding “moreover, there are also contradictions in the statements of these witnesses about the recording of the recovery and seizure memo and packing and sealing of fake currency notes”.
“Hence, the recovery and seizure memos pertaining to 21 fake/counterfeit currency notes of rupee one hundred denominations are doubtful and cannot be believed and relied”, the court said.
Stating that prosecution has failed to establish charge against the accused beyond reasonable doubt by cogent and reliable evidence, the court dismissed the challan and acquitted the accused.
