JAMMU, July 21: An accused escaped from police custody prompting senior officers to initiate action against two policemen.
As per police sources, the accused identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar of Gujjar Nagar District Jammu was arrested under Section 41 CrPC for questioning in a case registered under FIR Number 18/2021 under Section 379 IPC at Police Post Gujjar Nagar. He was lodged in Police Station Peer Mitha.
“The suspect forced the sentry to go to washroom. After using the washroom, when sentry was about to put him in the lockup, the suspect fled away from the clutches of the sentry”, sources said, adding that two cops on duty identified as SgCT Jagdesh Raj (sentry) and Constable Mohammad Hussain have been suspended while a probe has been ordered.
However, a fresh case under FIR Number 45/2021 under Section 223 and 224 has been registered against Rahul Kumar at Police Station Peer Mitha and investigation going on.
