JAMMU, Dec 23: Reduced to just about three feet due to landslide triggered by flash flood in the Nallah beneath, a stretch at Cremation Ground road in Bhour Camp area is very much prone to accidents.
The state of affairs of working of the authorities concerned can be judged from the fact that the road was damaged during the rainy season’s July month this year and it has not seen any repair till now.
More unfortunate thing in the area is that locals here avoid disclosing their names but want their problems to be highlighted.
“Sir, write Sikh Naojawan Sabha and not mention our individual names. We demand that the road should be repaired soon,” a group of Sikh youths of the area said adding that the Nallah beneath the road needs a protection wall as a ground along the Nallah too gets flooded in the rains.
When contacted Yudhvir Singh-the Corporator of Ward number-73 under which this area falls, said there is even no light at the damaged portion of the road and any vehicle may fall there in dark or any individual may also fall into about 30 feet deep ditch besides the road where a Nallah flows.
The Corporator further informed that he also brought the matter into the notice of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta who along with MLC Vikram Randhawa visited the spot wherein the MLC assured to give money from his constituency development fund to repair the road and the AEE Roads and Building Department was asked on the spot to make the papers ready so that funds can be released for repairing the road.
He also said that he will be visiting the AEE tomorrow to check the status of the paper work at his end.
