ACB registers DA case against CAO

JAMMU, May 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked a JKAS officer, presently posted as Chief Accounts Officer in the office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Srinagar, for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
An ACB official said a case FIR number 06/2026 under the relevant sections of the Prevention of the Corruption Act was registered against Zafar Iqbal at Police Station ACB Central Jammu after a discrete verification revealed that he had accumulated assets worth crores of rupees beyond his known sources of income during his postings at various places.
He said the accused allegedly acquired movable and immovable properties in his own name as well as in the names of his family members and relatives by misusing his official position.

Following registration of FIR, he said the ACB conducted searches at the officer’s residences in Bathindi area of Jammu district, Gursai village in Mendhar area of Poonch district, and at his official residence at Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar after obtaining search warrants from the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Jammu.
During the raids, the ACB sleuths recovered and seized several documents related to the properties and other assets, he said.
Pertinently, the searches at different residences of the accused were conducted by different teams headed by Kamal Sangra, Shamsher Singh, and Narinder Jamwal under the supervision of Abdul Qayoom, SSP ACB, with further investigation in the case entrusted to Kamal Sangra, DySP ACB.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is going on.
