ACB raids Passport Office

Srinagar, June 7: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today raided Passport Office Srinagar in connection with some passports which have been fraudulently issued.
The ACB took files pertaining to three Passports which were fraudulently issued from the Regional Passport Office Srinagar.
An official said that one passport file is of Nazira Latif of Srinagar. She has Afghan origin and is married in Srinagar. She has got a passport twice so far with the first one issued in 2003. She had applied afresh and her report was adverse.
Another file is that of Sadam Farooq of Anantnag. He was convicted in the BOPEE scam and was jailed for several years. He has also got a Passport and is now in Bangladesh.
Third file is of Farooq Ahmad from Srinagar who was holding a valid Passport but it was impounded after an FIR was registered against him in a criminal act. He got a fresh passport this year.
Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Srinagar, B B Nagar questioned the ACB raid. He said the ACB should have sought details and every detail would have been shared with them within a shortest possible time.
