An official spokesperson said a complaint was received by the Bureau, alleging that Senior Grade Constable Arif Iqbal of Police Post Lam (Nowshera) had telephonically called the complainant on the basis of a case lodged by a resident of Pukharni, Tehsil Qila Darhal, and demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe for himself and the Incharge Police Post to avoid implicating him in that matter.
Unwilling to pay the money, the complainant approached the ACB, which after discreet verification registered FIR Number 05/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Rajouri.
Subsequently, a trap team was constituted and a well-planned operation was carried out. During the operation, the accused public servant was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. He was immediately taken into custody by the ACB team after completing all legal formalities.
The Bureau also conducted searches at the residential premises of the accused in connection with the case. Officials confirmed that further investigation into the matter is in progress.
