ACB books AD, TSO for misappropriation of carriage charges

JAMMU, May 22: Anticorruption Bureau Jammu has registered a case against TSO namely Ab Majid Wani and Assistant Director FCS&CA Department Kishtwar Ghar Singh for misappropriation of the carriage charges of the ration items.
According to the ACB, one Manzoor Ahmad lodged a complaint against TSO Marwah namely Ab Majid Wani and others alleging therein that the then officers /officials of CA&PD Department of Marwah in district Kishtwar misappropriated the carriage charges of ration quota/drawn excess payment for carriage of food grains from Food store Guzar to Food Store Inshan as well as Food Store Choidraman during the year 2014-15 and 2015-16 etc.
The verification conducted by the ACB revealed distance from Food Store Guzar to Food Store Inshan is 1.800 Kms by road & 0.350 Km by head load, total 150 Kms but the concerned department charged carriage charges either at the rate of Rs 65 for average distance of 3.6 Kms or at the rate of Rs 90 for average distance of 5 Kms in respect of two Food Stores.
Similarly, the distance from Food Store Guzar Inshan to Food Store Choidraman is 6.00 Km but the department concerned has charged carriage charges Rs 216 for the distance of 12 Km—excess by 6 kms during the year 2014-16. In this manner, the concerned TSO namely Ab Majid Wani in conspiracy with the then Assistant Director FCS&CA Department Kishtwar Ghar Singh abused their official positions and dishonestly charged excess charges for carriage of food grains from Food Store Guzar to Food Store Inshan as well as Food Store Guzar Inshan to Food Store Choidraman thus misappropriated the amount to the tune of Rs 15,33,475.
“The facts constitute commission of offences punishable under Prevention of Corruption Act 2006 and Sections 120-B, 467, 468, 471 RPC against then TSO namely Ab. Majid Wani (now retired) and Assistant Director FCS&CA Department Kishtwar Ghar Singh (now retired) and others. Consequently, a case has been registered”, the ACB said.
