ACB arrests Guard, Forester accepting bribe

JAMMU, July 18: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today laid trap and arrested a Forest Guard, Anil Kumar and Ajaz Mirza, Forester, both of Rajouri for accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000.
A handout stated that ACB received a complaint that on the basis of allegedly false and frivolous complaint lodged against the family of complainant with DFO Rajouri, the forest officials Anil Kumar and Ajaz Mirza were demanding bribe of Rs. 40,000 from her for settlement of a complaint.
The DFO forwarded the complaint to Range Officer, Rajouri for conducting spot inspection and report.
On request of complainant, her brother approached the officials of Forest Department who were enquiring the matter and they demanded the bribe amount for immediate settlement of the matter.
Verification of contents of complaint prima facie disclosed commission of offence U/S 7 of PC Act 1988 R/W 120-B IPC and an FIR was registered against the Forest Guard and Forester.
Accordingly, ACB team laid the trap and caught both the officials accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the complainant’s brother.
Later on, other accused Ajaz Mirza, Forester was also arrested in connection with the investigation of the case.
Searches were conducted at the office premises of the concerned officers including the house searches of both the accused persons and further investigation in the case was going on.
