JAMMU, May 7: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Kashmir has demand revocation of order issued by the Government of UT for opening all higher educational institution across Jammu Kashmir with immediate effect .
In a statement, ABVP State Secretary Mukesh Manhas said that the Union Territory Government order for opening all higher educational institution across Jammu Kashmir is a clear violation of MHA guidelines on complete lockdown till May 17th 2020 and hence must be revocated with immediate effect .
Mukesh Manhas said that such an order at this stage when Jammu Kashmir is seeing rise in total number of cases pertaining to COVID-19, was very irresponsible from the Higher Education Department. He said that lack of planning can be seen from such decision of the UT administration.
He warned that one such wrong move of opening the campuses may cost the Government a lot. Further, he added, once the universities are opened for the scholars, there is no mechanism for stopping the traffic movement in the campus as the requisite security arrangements with proper protocols being maintained by the security is impossible at this stage. He further said that sanitization of the campuses is going to be another major problem which the faculty is complaining about.
The ABVP leader further said that if all such arrangement and protocols are duly arranged and managed by the Government, how will the scholars who are from far flung villages be able to move to the campus on regular basis as the hostels at this stage will not be allowed to be opened. So, this is a very impractical policy which the higher education department is mentioning.
“If the campuses turn into hubs for COVID-19, because if a single infected person entering the campus, the virus is going to travel many folds throughout the UT. So, the Government must not prefer opening campuses and take back the untimely and misconceived order or ABVP will be forced to come on roads,” he warned.
