JAMMU, Apr 18: Khour police arrested an absconding rapist, who outraged the modesty of a minor girl from Thathar Paloura area.
As per police sources, family members of a girl hailing from Naryana lodged a complaint with police station Khour stating that their neighbour youth identified as Sanjay Kumar, son of Harbans Lal raped their eight-year-old daughter, when she was alone at home.
After conducting medical examination, the girl was restored to family members.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 33/16 under Section 376 RPC was registered in police station and manhunt was launched to nab the accused, who escaped from the spot after threatening the girl of dire consequences.
During the course of investigation, the family members were called but they remained mum and did not disclose the location of the accused.
Police analyzed the Call Detail Record (CDR) of the accused and his family members, which yielded some clues.
Following the technical leads, a team from Khour police station nabbed the accused this morning from Thathar Paloura area.
The relentless efforts spearheaded by SHO Khour Mohammed Iqbal Chagatta enabled arrest of the underground rapist within this short span of time under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinderpal Singh and Additional SP Rural Arun Gupta.
