RAJOURI, June 8: Police arrested an absconding accused who was wanted in rape case of a specially abled girl.
The accused has been identified as Sham Sunder, son of Jeet Kumar, a resident of Laroka, Tehsil Qila Darhal Rajouri District.
The officials said that on 3rd of June, a case FIR Number 122/2022 under Sections 376 and 506 IPC and 4/6 POCSO Act was registered in Police Station Nowshera after a formal complaint was received from a family of a village falling under the jurisdiction of Bhawani Police Post regarding rape of a specially abled girl.
Police said that after registration of case, investigation was set into motion but accused fled away and was evading his arrest.
Looking gravity of the case, a special team comprising of SHO Nowshera Rajesh Jasrotia and Incharge Police Post Bhawani PSI Rajat Sharma was constituted which started manhunt of the accused and multiple raids were conducted in areas of Rajouri district and in Jammu also.
The police team succeeded in arrest of accused during a raid at Bari Brahmana area of District Samba.
Officials said that accused wanted in this heinous crime has been put behind the bars and further legal formalities are going on.
