DODA, Jan 14: Police here today arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest for more than 19 years.
Giving details in this regard, SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta said the absconder Asif Ali, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of, Bemina Colony, Srinagar, at present, Bandipora, Kashmir was arrested in case of FIR No. 203/2004 U/S 279/337 RPC of Police Station Doda.
After completion of investigation of the case, a Challan was produced in the Court and the accused was declared an absconder and warrant of arrest under Section 299 Cr PC was issued against him by the Court of CJM Doda on September 13, 2005. Multiple attempts were made by Police to arrest him but every time he used to give a slip to the cops and was not appearing before the Police. Finally, on the directions of SSP Doda, a Police team was constituted with cops from Police Station Doda under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Doda which was led by Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, SHO Doda.
After hectic efforts the team arrested the absconder from Bandipora and brought him to Doda and he was produced before the Court.
