SRINAGAR, Apr 8: The PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that the petitioner seeking banning of two largest regional political parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should wait for abrogation of Article 370 by BJP that will automatically debar the two parties from contesting elections under Indian Constitution.
Mehbooba wrote on microblogging social networking site twitter: “Why waste time in court. Wait for BJP to scrap Article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian Constitution won’t be applicable to J&K anymore. Na Samjho Gay Tou Mit Jaouge Aye Hindustan Walo. Tumhari Dastaan Tak Bhi Na Hogi Dastaano Main.”
The PDP president reacted to news reports about a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in Delhi High Court to seek a ban on the participation of two largest regional political parties NC and PDP and their leaderships in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The petition argued that loyalties of Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah of National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti of Peoples Democratic Party lie somewhere else outside the Indian Constitution. The petition was filed by Advocate Sanjeev Kumar before Delhi High Court few days back.
Mehbooba said that she has independently filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the ban on civilian traffic on Kashmir highway and the case is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.
PDP president said, senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar today filed a Public Interest litigation (PIL) against the highway closure ban by the Government in High Court through Senior Advocate and former Advocate General of the State Jehangir Iqbal Ganai. “The PIL is likely to be considered by Division Bench tomorrow,” she said.
