JAMMU, Jan 10:  Abhinav Bharti and Renu Bala were adjudged as Mr and Miss Duggar 2017-18, respectively during an event jointly organized by Khand Mithe Log Dogre and Team Jammu at Auditorium of Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The four member jury also adjudged Sonali Rajput and Navdeep Sambyal as Ist runner up while Divyam and Sanjana Manchanda were adjudged as 2nd runners up of the event. Divya Surya and Poonam were awarded with consolation prizes.
Former MLC and Trustee, Dharmarth Trust, J&K, Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh was the chief guest while Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal was the guest of honour. Besides, president, Dogri Sanstha, Joginder Chattarpal, Additional Secretary JKAACL, Dr Amrinder Aman, noted Dogri writers, Kuldeep Dubey and Yashpal Yash were the special guests on the occasion.
Besides  presentation of a Dogri skit, duo Dogri dance and songs, a total of three rounds focusing Dogri, Kashmiri and Ladakhi culture of the State were held, during the which young boys and girls exhibited their talent and enthralled the gathering.
During the event, there was show of the colour of Duggar Pradesh in which the participants from different areas of Jammu province used traditional props of the State and walked on the melodious tunes of folk songs of J&K.  The second round was on the theme of “Tred West” round in which participants showed their creativity about how they can look beautiful and modern in a refined and sophisticated manner, whereas last round was exclusively focused of Dogra folk during which Mr. and Miss Duggar 2017-18 were announced. During the last round, the participants were dressed up in traditional Dogri dress and walked on tunes of the traditional marriage ceremonial songs including Ghoriyan and Suhaag.
While addressing the gathering, chief guest, Vikramditya Singh appealed people of Jammu to allow their wards to learn Dogri language as well as keep them well informed about Dogra history and culture.
Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, in his address, said that it was for the first time that such a show was organized in which exclusive focus had been made on Dogra culture.
