Abhinav elected HC Bar president

JAMMU, Apr 28: Advocate Abhinav Sharma was tonight elected as president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
The election for the posts of office bearers of the Bar Association was held yesterday. However, the result was declared tonight due to time consumed in counting of votes and some dispute. About 1981 votes were polled out of total 2323.
According to Senior Advocate B S Salathia, former President of the Bar Association, who acted as Returning Officer, Advocate Abhinav Sharma secured 999 votes to win the presidential chair. The other contenders for the post namely Advocate Vikram Sharma secured 751 votes, Advocate A K Sawhney secured 226 votes and Advocate Shakti Gupta secured 5 votes.
Advocate Abhinav Sharma has become president of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu for second time.
It is pertinent to mention here that Advocate Abhinav Sharma had played crucial role in getting AIIMS sanctioned for Jammu division as he spearheaded agitation for nearly three months.
Advocate Rohit Bhagat secured 802 votes to win the post of vice president. The other contenders for the post namely Advocate Monish Chopra secured 701 votes and Advocate RS Duswal secured votes 480.
Advocate Abhisekh Wazir was elected as general secretary by securing 1556 votes. His rival Advocate Anil Khajuria secured 425 votes. Advocate Pardeep Majotra emerged as winner for the post of joint secretary by securing 935 votes whereas Advocate Snigdha Shekhar secured 436, Advocate Varun Kotwal secured 324 votes and Advocate Bhavishya Suddan secured 285 votes for this post.
Advocate Shushant Samnotra was elected as cashier of the Bar Association. He secured 909 votes against his rivals namely Advocate Nikash Sharma and Advocate Sahil Bavoria who secured 690 and 300 votes respectively.
