JAMMU, Dec 25: Terming AASRA a revolutionary step towards social security of women, the Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Ch Zulfkar Ali today said launching of such pioneering welfare schemes will provide the much needed succor to women belonging to low income families.
This was stated by the Minister during an awareness camp organized by the Social Welfare Department on ”AASRA” Scheme at Rajouri .
Enumerating the details of the AASRA scheme, Minister said that AASRA is a first step towards upliftment of economically weaker sections of society and exhorted upon the people to come forward and avail the benefits of the scheme.
The Minister said that families having annual income less than 75000 can register themselves under AASRA and if the earning hand of any registered family dies , the next kin of the deceased will get the compensation of Rs 2 lakh besides monthly assistance and an amount of Rs 1 lakh in case of disability due to injury.
Emphasizing on synergy in the service delivery system, Zulfkar asked the concerned departments to undertake field visit , organize awareness camps and put up hoardings, displaying schemes of the government to ensure proper implementation of the scheme.
On the occasion, the Minister also gave away cheques amounting Rs 9 lacs under Swachh Bharat Mission among the beneficiaries.
Later, the Minister reviewed the implementation of National Food Security Act in Rajouri and Poonch in a meeting of officers convened at Dak bungalow Rajouri.
District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat informed that 180743 declaration forms were distributed, 156233 forms have been received and about 114720 have been verified so far in the district.
District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Harun Malik apprised the Minister that out of the 104000 declaration forms distributed, 103475 have been received in Poonch district.
Director, Tribal Affairs, M.S Choudhary, ADC, Mumtaz Choudhary, ACD Noor Alam also attended the meeting.
