UDHAMPUR, Dec 27: To highlight the public grievances, District Unit Udhampur of Aam Aadmi Party took out a peaceful protest rally, here today.
Led by Ravi Shastri, OBT member J&K Aam Aadmi Party, the rally took off from Talab Sallian and reached at DC Office Udhampur after passing through Chabutra, Main Bazar, Gole Market, Dabbar Chowk, Mukerji Bazar, Ramnagar Chowk , Court Road, Salathia Chowk and Dhar road.
AAP workers raised slogans against District Administration, State Government and Union Government for not delivering goods to the people. Ravi Shastri submitted a memorandum to the LG of J&K UT through Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
While addressing the gathering Aam Aadmi Party leader Ravi Shastri said that people of Udhampur District are facing multiple problems but it was unfortunate that authorities were not serious for redress of these problems. He condemned demotion of State to UT status and said that the same was not acceptable and AAP would continue struggle for restoration of Statehood to J&K.
Shastri further said that youth were frustrated due to unemployment while on the other hand, Administration has failed to provide even essential commodities like drinking water, regular electricity supply, food grains etc.
Maintaining that the Udhampur District has a tremendous tourism potential, the AAP leader demanded strong network of road connectivity to scenic areas of Udhampur. He said tourism development in Udhampur District will provides employment and economic boost to the locals.
Others who addressed the rally, included Raman Sharma, Suram Chand Khajuria, Anita Nargotra, Madhu Kour, Rajkumar Nichal, Mehar Singh, Gurmeet Singh, NP Singh, Rattan Lal and Shiv Ram.
