The book written by a new entrant in the field of writing is an offering of devotion to Goddess SHIVA who is worshipped by all Kashmiri Pandits as Kashmir is a land of spiritual sustenance and Kashmiri Pandits have always given preference to spiritual exaltations rather than materialistic gains. Shiva Bhagwati Temple Akingam is a temple of Jagad Amba Shri Shiva Bhagwati. The temple is famous in Kashmir valley. The shrine of Goddess Shiva is situated at the top of the village near the foot hills. It had a beautiful temple with two storey, Dharamshalla and a large chunk of forest land attached to it. This temple was burnt along with Dharamshalla in December 1992
Shiva Bhagwati Temple is a centuries old religious place of Hindus. This place is highly revered by Kashmiri Pandits.
This book is an innocent outpour of devotion, love and surrender to Goddess Shiva. The writer has sincerely put forth that his compilation is not a literary piece of writing but the strong vent of his devotion and emotions towards the Deity he worships. His words are no doubt simple but the undercurrent of strong devotion is there. It appears as if he has opened up his heart and emptied it before the Mother Goddess. He appeals to her to listen to his vows and sufferings as he has no one else who would soothe his pain.
The writer is so traumatized and agonized in some of the verses that he wants only and only the Divine Mother to take him out of such pain. He is totally dependent for his survival upon the grace of her. Such emotions surged with innocence of voice are remarkable aspects of this book.
The book has numerous illusions where the writer pleads to the Goddess to free him from this materialistic world. He is direct and forceful, notwithstanding the maturity of ‘DICTION’ and ‘WORDS’.
The Writer’s skill at taking the intensity of emotions to greater heights is yet in its infancy but they are true to their spirit.
There is no exaggeration ‘What the Writer has put in words is what he has felt and he admits that it was Divine Mother’s will that inspired and guided him to put it in the form of ‘Veenth’.
The originality simplicity are worth mentioning attributes of the book even through its style form and progression of thought is not yet mature and versatile. He needs to develop serenity and seriousness of language combined with mingling of emotions with thought progression in proper sequence and syntax.
It is said that well begun is half done. So Baskar Nath Rishi Ji has bugun his first move with total surrender and that endeavor is appreciable.
A positive attribute of this book is that it is written in Kashmiri using Devnagri and Urdu script .It is written in common man’s language without hyperbolic expression.
The writer has made a beautiful usage of visual imagery. At times he has aptly used sound and light effects to enhance the semblance of emotion and gratitude towards God but it needs more depth, intensity and maturity of presentation.
The writer has incorporated some devotional songs to Mata Uma Bhagwati of Umanagri and also that of Lord Shiva thus creating oneness of that one supreme power that governs the whole of the Universe.
The writer has made his readers glued to the panoramic view he portrayed in his Vineeth by his creative talent of picturization of the serene and bountiful sorroundings of the landscape.
It is important to mention that a writer writes only when there is an invocation by muses in him who inspire and guide. During the inspirational period in the growth and development of a writer he pays less attention to the finer elements of writing technique. This book is the first attempt of the writer and so it too suffers from this drawback but it is a matter of practice and time .There is no denying in the scope and hope that the writer well overcome with difficulty level we will get more substantial and literary useful and valuable work from Baskar Nath Rishi in future.
