JAMMU, Apr 15: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, today conducted an extensive tour of Hira Nagar and Dayala Chack areas and inspected several PHE installations besides taking stock of irrigation schemes.
Chief Engineer, PHE, Ashwani Sharma, Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, K.K.Gupta, Chief Engineer, RTIC, V.K. Badyal and other officers accompanied the Minister.
During the inspection, the Minister directed the officers to keep close monitoring of schemes to ensure adequate water supply in all areas. He asked them to frame a well thought strategy to meet the drinking water requirements in dry belt especially during summer months. He also directed to make a sufficient provision of tankers to meet the additional needs in the vulnerable areas.
While taking stock of the PHE control rooms set up at different areas, the Minister asked the concerned to quickly respond to the complaints of the people. He asked for maintaining the record of complaints and other feed backs related to drinking water on daily basis.
Meanwhile, several deputations called on the Minister at different places and apprised him of the difficulties of their areas which were mainly related to scarcity of drinking water. He also appealed the people to make judicious use of water.
