Ladakh MP concludes Zanskar tour

KARGIL, May 31: Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal concluded his 4 day extensive visit of Lungnaq block of Zanskar Sub Division.
During the course of the intensive tour, the MP interacted with scores of public delegations and public representatives and took on spot appraisal of their developmental needs, issues, demands and grievances.
The MP was accompanied by the Chief Engineer Project Vijayak Brigadier Amit Sohal, Nominated Councillor Stanzin Chosgyal, SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjay, Sub Divisional Officers and Sarpanchs of the area.
He interacted with public delegations at Cha, Anmu, Surlay, Itcher, Raru, Munay, Munay Gonpa, Pibcha, Bardan Gonpa, Shiela and adjoining villages where representatives of these villages projected a number of demands which included augmentation of telecommunication facilities, improvement in education sector, drinking water supply, healthcare and road connectivity besides other related issues.
The MP after giving patient hearing to all issues and concerns raised by the people in each village assured them that all genuine demands would be considered on priority and addressed in a timely manner.
He said that the pace of developmental works in all the remote and backward villages of Zanskar Division would be expedited by taking all required measures so that the people of these areas do not get remain deprived in the development process.
As regards to the provision of internet facilities for education of the children , the MP assured to ensure provision of V-Sat at Shaday, Cha and Itcher villages so that students may avail the facilities of education through internet during the lockdown period.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer Project Vijayak apprised the MP about the progress of the ongoing works being carried out by 126 RCC on Nimo Padum Darcha axis and stressed the BRO authorities to ensure completion of all remaining works at the earliest so as to mitigate the sufferings of the locals.
The MP also emphasized the need for recruitment of local labourers in BRO works so that the unemployed youth of Zanskar get assistance as presently all trekking and other business activities have come a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
