SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Students of University of Kashmir enrolled through Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) mode undergoing their Bachelor of Education Course (B Ed) are aghast over the recent varsity decision to conduct their examination before the scheduled time.
“This decision has sent shock waves among us and that was why we come on roads against this decision of the department,” said the protesting students. The protesters said that Directorate of Distance Education has clearly mentioned in its prospectus that examination for those students who pursue B Ed course through distance mode will be conducted after 14 months.
“Now this was our only 10 month and DDE has issued a notice regarding our final examinations with regular students, which is clearly violation of their own set rules,” the protesting students said.
The students said the DDE wanted to make things easier for them, thus, putting the life of hundreds of students on jeopardy.
“As per Prospectus, our exams are due in the month of August for which DDE has issued us identity cards valid upto month of August 2013, but we don’t know why the department is conducting our exams earlier,” student said.
The students also said they held several peaceful protests within the KU campus and put the demand before concerned authorities, but no positive response has come from their side so far.
